Why do we forget our past incarnations, our families etc and how do we remember it?

And may His Peace and Blessings be upon Mohammed and the Family of Mohammed, the Imams and the Mahdis
We forget our incarnations between every life because it would be too painful to live a new incarnation whilst remembering loved ones, losses, hardships, trials and tribulations of another life. We would never be able to be truly happy with a new family while remembering and missing an old family. We also might not be able to function in a new life if we remember tragedies of an old life. A new life would not be a second chance if we were still under the influence of the past. So the slate is wiped clean, and a new life begins with new nafs which is formed by new environments and new people, and God still gives us the ability to tap into memories of the past if we choose to know.
The way we can remember is simple.... by truly believing we can.
