Patience

In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful And All praises due to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, And may He send his Peace and Blessings upon Mohammed and the Family of Mohammed, the Imams and the Mahdis.


Question:

What is patience, and in particular what is the patience of those that have Godly manners?

The patience we have come to know in our life has the end result of some kind of gain, for example if I do such and such and wait then this thing I want to happen will happen.


Is there such a thing as patience of the free? where you are not bound by any final result?
Imam Ali (PBUH) said " I will be patient until even patience tires of my patience" and he (PBUH) said "I found endurance therein was wise, so I adapted patience although there was pricking in the eye and suffocation of the throat". How can we become patient like Imam Ali (PBUH) and the holy imams?
