Tasbih-e-Fatima Al Zahra s.a
The Chief of the women of the world and the lady of paradise, Sayyida Fatima Zahra (s.a.) used to grind barley using her blessed hands by the stone mill in her house which caused cuts in her sacred hands. The Commander of the Faithful Imam Ali (a.s.) asked her to go to the Noble Prophet [saw] and request for a maid assistant.
When Sayyida Fatima al Zahra [sa] requested for a maid, the Noble Prophet [saw] said to her: “Fatima! Shall I tell you something which is better than a servant and even better than everything that is in this world?
The Prophet [saw] said : After Salat, recite
Allahu Akbar [Allah [swt] is the Greatest] 34 times
Alhamdulillah [All the praise belongs to Allah [swt]] 33 times
Subhanallah [Glory belongs to Allah [swt]] 33 times
and then conclude that with: “La Ilaha Il-lallah.” [There is no deity but Allah [swt]]
The Noble Prophet [saw] gifted Sayidda Fatima Zahra s.a something which is better than everything that is in this world and that is the Tasbih of Fatima Zahra s.a. A beautiful gift given to our Lady of Light by Prophet Muhammad [saw] which our Lady [may our lives be sacrificed for Al Zahra s.a] shared with all the believers so we all can benefit from this beautiful gift given by the Prophet of Allah [swt].
Tasbeeh of Fatima al Zahra [sa] according to Narrations of the Ahl al Bayt [as]
Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s.) informs, ‘Allah is not worshipped by anything more meritorious than the Tasbeeh of Fatima Zahra (s.a.). Had there been any worship superior to it, most surely the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) would have granted it to Janabe Fatima (s.a.).’ (Wasaaelush Shia , Vol 4 Pg. 1024)
Imam Jafar Sadiq (as) says about the dearness of this Tasbeeh in the eyes of the Imams of the Ahlulbayt (a.s.): “Reciting Tasbeeh of Hazrat Zahra (s.a.) everyday after every Salat is liked by me more than reciting one thousand rakats of (mustahab) namaz”.(Al-Kafi, Kitabus Salaat)
Reciting this Tasbeeh results in forgiveness of sins. In a tradition , Imam Mohammad Baqir (as) says: “One who recites the Tasbeeh of Hazrat Zahra (s.a.) and then seeks forgiveness, will be forgiven”. (Wasaaelush Shia Vol 4, Pg. 1023)
Tasbeeh of Fatima Zahra results in driving Shaitan away and in the satisfaction of Allah as tradition from Imam Mohammad Baqir (a.s.) says:“(Reciting Tasbeeh) drives away Shaitan and makes results in the satisfaction of Allah”. (Wasaaelush Shia Vol 4, Pg. 1023)
Imam Jafar Sadiq (as) says to one of his companions :“ You do adhere to it and be regular about its recitation, for surely one who is steadfast upon its recitation will not encounter adversity.” (Al-Kafi, Kitabus Salaat, Pg. 343)
According to a tradition from Imam Jafar Sadiq, one should recite Allaho Akbar 34 times, Alhamdolillah 33 times and Subhaanallah 33 times.(Behaarul Anwaar Vol 85, Pg. 334)
Imam Jafar Sadiq (as) states: “One who recites the Tasbeeh of Hazrat Zahra (s.a.) before even moving his feet, Allah will forgive him..” (At-Tahzeeb of Shaikh Toosi (r.a.) , Vol 2, Pg. 105)
Imam Jafar Sadiq (as) has said : “One who recites the Tasbeeh of Hazrat Zahra (s.a.) after a wajib namaz before he stretches out his legs ( i.e. he recites the Tasbeeh while he is in the posture of Tashahud) , then Jannat becomes wajib upon him” (Falaahus Saael by Ibne Taaoos (r.a.), Pg. 165)
Another tradition from Imam Sadiq (a.s.) says: “One who glorifies Allah after the obligatory prayer through the Tasbeeh of Hazrat Zahra (s.a.), and then follows it up by saying ‘Laa elaaha illallaho’, Allah will forgive his sins.” (Al-Kafi, Kitabus Salaat, Pg. 342)
Imam Jafar Sadiq (as) says : “One who recites the Tasbeeh of Hazrat Zahra (s.a.) at the time of going to bed, he will be accounted amongst those who have remembered Allah a lot.” (Wasaaelush Shia Vol 4, Pg. 1026)
In the book ‘Wasaaelush Shia’ there is a tradition from Imam Mohammad Baqir (as) which says that at the time of going to bed, Tasbeeh of Hazrat Zahra (s.a.)and then Maoozatain (Surah Falaq and Surah Naas) and Ayatul Kursi should be recited.
It is written in “Makarem-ul-Akhlaq” that the Tasbih of Fatima (SA) is one of the five signs of a faithful person.
The importance of teaching our children the Tasbeeh of Fatima al Zahra [sa]
This beautiful tasbeeh was a gift from our Beloved Prophet Muhammad [saw] to his daughter Fatima al Zahra [sa]. The greatest of all gifts and beneficial in all circumstances, a gift that has been passed down from the Ahl al Bayt [as].
In this connection, Imam Jafar Sadiq (as) says : “ O Abu Haroon! We order our children to recite the Tasbeeh of Hazrat Zahra (s.a.)in the same manner as we order them for the performance of Namaz ” (Al-Kafi, Kitabus Salaat, Pg. 343)
The Benefits of Tasbeeh of Fatima Al Zahra [sa]
*A beautiful gift from Allah [swt] and the Ahl al Bayt [as]
*An expression of understanding the Oneness and Greatness of Allah [swt]
*An adornment to our salat and nights
*Better than a 1000 Rakats
The Tasbih of Fatima al Zahra s.a is beneficial and the best form of remembering and attaining the pleasure of Allah [swt]. Remembering Allah [swt] in all circumstances helps remove the veils of negligence and distance the satanic whispers from oneself.
Imam Jaffar al Sadiq [as] said: ‘Whoever remembers Allah much Allah will give him a place in his shadow of mercy in paradise’
The Tasbih has been praised with nothing being more greater than the Tasbih of Fatima [sa] to remember Allah [swt]. This form of remembrance has been told in narrations to be greater than 1000 rakats!
The Secret of Tasbih of Fatima al Zahra [sa]
In a Hadith it is mentioned a man came to Imam Jaffar al Sadiq [as] and asked him: ‘ What is the secret behind the Ka’bah having four rukn [corners] and it being cubic square [in shape]?’
The Imam [as] replied: ‘It is because the Baitul Ma’mur has four rukn.’
The person then asked, ‘Why does the baitul Ma’mur have four rukn?’
The Imam [as] said: ‘Because the Arsh has four rukn’
The Man furthure asked: ‘Why does the Arsh have four rukn?’
The Imam [as] replied:’Due to the fact that every Arsh is dependent upon the rukn. The first of these is Allahu Akbar; the second is SubhanAllah; the third is Alhamdulilah and the fourth is La ilaha illalla.
